How to Fix a Surfboard - Very Bad Nose Ding

Описание к видео How to Fix a Surfboard - Very Bad Nose Ding

Just a quick video showing one way to fix a very bad ding on the nose of a shortboard. Sorry the background music is crappy and too loud. I used Cab-o-sil to make the resin lighter and easier to sand. A piece of foam could've also been laminated to the board and sanded in place but I didn't have any foam lying around when I made this video. Q-cell, Micro balloons, and/or Sil-cell are easier to work with because they mix better and pour better and are easier to sand. Cab-o-sil takes longer to mix in to the resin, is more paste like, and harder to spread and fill dings, but it is stronger.
Sandpaper used in the video:
80 grit to rough up the old glass for good adhesion
120 grit to roughly shape the repaired area
320 grit to feather the new glass into the old
800 grit for finishing
Other materials used:
Sanding Resin
Laminating Resin
Catalyst
white color pigment
Cab-o-sil
6 oz fiberglass mat
disposable gloves
popsicle sticks, 3M blue tape, and Dixie cups

Thanks for watching!
Long live the Sea Wench!
