CORRECTION: At 3:04 I stated that "Most characters recharge their arts by auto-attacking." Characters only recharge their Talent Arts by auto-attacking. Normal arts are always on a cooldown timer. Thanks to u/TheWobblyH on Reddit for pointing out my error here!

I was inspired to make this video when watching my girlfriend, who had never played a Xenoblade game before, struggle with the combat. Info overload is a real thing when you're new at these games. I realized that many of the guides out there don't go over this really basic stuff that someone very new to the series might need help with.

If you're already a Xenoblade fan, this guide probably isn't for you. Rather, it's for your friend or loved one who you finally talked into trying the game out, so hopefully they don't get too frustrated and put the game down before they're hooked.
