One of the things I absolutely love about being in the fishing and spearfishing community amazing people that are always willing to share. While I can go out and try to catch a fish with a pole or shoot a fish with my speargun it’s always great to be able to have someone around that might have a little extra fish that you can have to share with others.

My wife’s friend was coming from Colorado so we decided to have a sushi party . However, my sushi parties are really focused around what I can shoot or catch, this one was no different.

For the sushi party, my target was to have a few different types of fish to use in the sushi . First I had yellowtail that my neighbor Roberto let me have after fishing trip in Mexico. Second was a halibut that I had shot just a week prior. third was a lobster tail that I had gotten last season. Fourth was going to be Bonito that my friend had said they were catching off appeared just just near the queen Mary, and so I was gonna go out that day to try to get myself. A couple of them were scallops that I actually bought even though I can normally just go out and get them spearfishing.

Unfortunately, from my Bonito attempt while I did a few Bonito I never was able to get them up onto the pier . luckily though couple guys were catching the bonito and rather than throw them back, they let me have them and I could process them and have them cleaned out right then in there so that they could have great meat.

In this video, I take you through the flames that I cut off them and show why it’s very important to dispatch the bonito quickly and to get them and bleed them as fast as you can .
