Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at eTrailer and today we're taking a look at installing the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver on a 2020 Buick Enclave. Now you're probably wondering where is the hitch and it's installed. It replaces the factory bumper beam and GM and a few other manufacturers have done a really good job of making sure that they're covered up. So you get a nice clean OEM look. But if you need to use your hitch and wiring, not a problem. You just twist those knobs, this pulls out and then you get all the usability of your hitch.

Now this is a two inch by two inch receiver tube opening which is gonna be a great size for a number of different accessories. It's kind of the, it is the most common size. So as far as bike racks, cargo carriers, your ball mounts you're gonna have plenty of options available. And all of those accessories are gonna stay in place with the eight five eights pin and clip. And this is not included with the hitch.

A lot of your accessories will come with a pin and clip. That's something we'll kind of look for when choosing them. But also we have locking ones available here at each trailer, which is really nice. If you're planning on leaving your accessories on you can lock those in place and know that they're not gonna disappear in the hands of someone else. You also have a rolled style safety chain loop.

So if you're planning on towing you can easily get a standard S hook or even a larger clevis style will work well with this. Now speaking of towing, this is rated pretty well. You have a gross trailer weight rating at 5,000 pounds which is gonna be the weight of the trailer plus the accessories loaded onto it. You also have a tongue late rating of 750 pounds and that's gonna be the downward pressure that's put on the inside of the receiver tube opening. So as far as your suspended bike racks or cargo carriers, you have up to 750 pounds to load that up, which is pretty good.

Now you do wanna check the vehicle's owner's manual to see what it's capable of and compare that with the numbers of the hitch. And also if you're using a ball mount to tow a trailer make sure that all of your components are playing ball with that weight and you're gonna want to adhere to the lowest number. That way you're staying safe and not gonna overload anything. Now this can be used with the weight distribution hitch but the numbers are gonna stay exactly the same. Now a few quick measurements for determining the right accessories for your vehicle. So from the center of the hitchpin hole to the furthest point of the rear fascia we're looking at two and a half inches. And that's important for some of your folding accessories. The cargo carriers, your bike racks in that stowed position you wanna make sure that you're not gonna make contact with the rear fascia of your vehicle. And also if you're choosing a ball mount you want one that's gonna stick out far enough so that way you're not gonna hit the bumper with your coupler of your trailer. And overall this one's pretty close so you shouldn't have too many issues with that. Now as far as ground clearance this is gonna help you determine if you need a rise or a drop for your trailer. And this one's actually pretty solid here. It's coming in at 20 and a half inches from the top of the receiver tube opening. So you're gonna wanna measure the coupler of your trailer to determine if you need a rise or drop. Now being that this is pretty high if you have your cargo carrier or your bike rack loaded on it is gonna extend it out and if you go up an incline it can bottom out. This is pretty high, but it's still something to keep in mind while driving with those loaded onto your hitch. Now as far as the installation goes it does replace the bumper beam. You are gonna be pulling off the rear fascia but honestly this is one of the easier vehicles to be able to do that and you might wanna have an extra set of hands that way you can get this off without damaging your car in the process. I'm gonna walk you through every single step to make sure you get it installed. And I do recommend if you are planning on doing wiring like our neighbor here has you might wanna do it when the fascia is off. That way you can get it nice and clean and it's gonna make it that much easier. So let's take a look at the installation and that way you can get yours installed. This installation, the hitch is going to live where the bumper beam exists currently. So that means we are gonna have to pull off the rear fascia. Now don't get too worried this isn't too bad we'll just follow along step by step and we'll get your hitch insta
