In this exclusive clip, Flight Safety Foundation President and CEO Hassan Shahidi joins Global News to discuss a recent plane malfunction in Halifax, N.S., and crashes in both South Korea and Kazakhstan that killed dozens of people.

On Saturday night, an Air Canada plane experienced a “suspected landing gear issue” upon arrival in Halifax. The aircraft was unable to reach its terminal and the crew and 73 passengers were off-loaded by bus. The cause of the incident is unknown and pending investigation.

And, almost everyone on board a Jeju Air passenger plane perished when the aircraft skidded off a runway while attempting to land at South Korea’s Muan Airport. The aircraft slammed into a concrete wall and burst into flames, killing 179 people; there were two survivors.

Meanwhile, Russian forces are being accused of firing a missile that caused the fatal Christmas Day crash landing of an Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane in Kazakhstan. Thirty-eight people died.

Joined by Shahidi, Global’s Amandalina Letterio has the details.
