Rembrandt | Britain's Discovery of the Master

From the 1630s, the enthusiasm for the paintings, drawings and etchings of Rembrandt grew into a mania which gripped artists and collectors alike, reaching a fever pitch in the eighteenth century. His art continues to impact on Britain's artistic imagination to the present day.

A landmark exhibition that was only shown in Edinburgh, Rembrandt | Britain's Discovery of the Master brought together major artworks by the legendary Dutch master, alongside those of the many British artists he has inspired. In this video, exhibition curators and contributors introduce Rembrandt, using key works from the show.
