Many parents are lost and confused when they get the diagnosis that their child has autism. Some try to look for autism language programs, some look for intervention options, but many dig their head into the sand and think their child will never be able to talk fluently. However, with the right methods, increasing language in toddlers isn’t as impossible as you might think. Improving language in kids with autism starts with an assessment. And this is something I cover and enforce in almost all my videos. But another great strategy for helping your child to develop communication skills is the shoebox program.

The shoebox program is something I’ve come up with that helps in developing language skills using pictures of family members and other familiar objects. In today’s video blog, I’ll outline the steps parents and professionals can take to put this program into place and learn how to improve autism social skills. Teaching language and language learning can be fun, and the shoebox program does just that. I hope you’ll try this program out in your autism intervention plan, and let me know in the comments how it goes!
