The transformation of Papilio polytes (Common Mormon) from caterpillar to butterfly (Female).


Host plants: Kaffir Lime (Citrus hystrix), Key Lime (Citrus aurantiifolia), Nagami Kumquat (Citrus margarita), etc.

I raised the caterpillar in a small container.
When the caterpillar has fully reached its full length and weight, it will form into a chrysalis.
Pupation takes approximately 15 hours after the caterpillar hangs its body with a silk pad and a silk girdle.
The chrysalis stage lasts about 11-12 days to become a butterfly. It depends on environmental factors such as climate.
