GIY Gathering in Waterford, September 2011

The GIY Gathering is the largest-ever get-together of GIYers held in Ireland. This is an unmissable opportunity to meet GIYers from across the country so come and represent your veggie patch, town, village or county; celebrate the 2011 harvest with us and be inspired, informed and entertained. The 2011 Gathering ticket gives you access to over 40 incredible workshops, talks, demos, debates, panel discussions and forages over two days.

Speakers include the UK and Ireland's leading veg experts and authors including Joy Larkcom, Bob Flowerdew, Darina Allen, Ella McSweeney, Duncan Stewart, Suzanne Campbell, John McKenna, Klaus Laitenberger, Hans Wieland, Síle Nic Chonaonaigh and Michael Kelly

Can GIY Save the World? We've asked some celebs to put their thinking caps on and consider whether we can grow our way to a better world. GIY in the Community -- GIYing is not just for the back-yard. These panel discussions focus on allotments, community gardens, care farming and restaurant kitchen gardens.
GIY Food Demos -- harvest cooking, preserving food, butter making and more! GIY Concepts -- get up to speed on the latest trends in GIYing from seed saving to biodynamics. GIY Drilldowns -- master-classes on GIYing with leading veg experts.

Lunch will be a picnic in the People's Park. There will also be a chance to meet other GIYers at the speed PODs, as well as the presentation of the GIYer and GIY Group of the Year Awards. From 2-4pm there will be a "Learn, Sow and Show" Potting Shed in Woodies DIY store in Waterford

Waterford Castle's executive head Chef, Michael Quinn, is the mastermind behind an unmissable feast, bringing 750 people together to break bread and celebrate the Harvest.
