The Now You Know classroom was born out of our family's tradition of listening to and sharing inspiring stories. The 2020 pandemic and the remote learning environment presented a variety of challenges and frustrations for elementary school children and their families. While substitute teaching, Mrs. Rakis was able to call upon this family tradition with a morning segment. To help her students set a positive daily intention, she would share a story of someone who has overcome obstacles to find success. Reminding students that often, we see someone's success but not their journey. Mrs. Rakis' students were inspired, began to look forward to the segment, even suggesting people they wanted to know more about and sharing what they'd learned with their families. It was clear, everyone benefited by being reminded that we have a choice when faced with adversity.....we can allow it to stop us or we can keep striving towards our goals.
