The QUICK way to hike SNOWDON! Family friendly!

Описание к видео The QUICK way to hike SNOWDON! Family friendly!

We went hiking in Snowdonia / Eryri to summit the highest mountain in England and Wales, Snowdon / Yr Wyddfa. We ascended via the Miners Track and descended via the Pyg Track. The pyg track is the shortest route up Snowdon and it is also the quickest. However, as a hiking trail, it is much better to summit this way.

At 1085m / 3560ft, Snowdon is the highest peak in Wales and one of the fifteen Welsh 3000's (mountains over 3,000ft).

The reason I chose this route is the Llanberis Path is a long, fairly boring slog. For those than don't have the attention span (children) or the stamina (less healthy) the Llanberis Path shouldn't be used (but often is!).

The Miners Path grabs your attention with beautiful scenery and the lakes. It's a easy start which helps warm up your muscles ready for the ascending. The ascent at the end is fairly steep but I'd always say it's better to ascend steeply than descend. Coming down the Pyg Track is much more gradual and you get to see different views than the Miners Path.

We used the Park & Ride service at Nant Peris that took us to the Pen y Pass Car Park. There is no need to book, buses are regular, the journey is about 5 minutes and it's cheap too.

From the Pen y Pass car park we took the lower Miners Path route. This takes you around the lakes but does mean the final ascent is steeper.

Coming down we took the Pyg Path. This traverses the mountains will no particularly steep sections.

For me, this route is perfect for first timers. You really feel like you're climbing a mountain and the scenery is amazing!

I was pleased with my Decathlon MT-500 hiking boots. They are really good all round hiking boots. My only criticism would be the padding on the tongue could be better but my feet were warm, dry and with no sores or pressure points.

I was also using the new 2024 Osprey Talon Velocity rucksack. This pack is inbetween a regular hiking rucksack and a trail running pack. I like the additional pockets and security on the front shoulder straps. It's light, super comfy has great features but I'm not sure about the hook and loop top closure.
