Why Seers are born leaders (and what stops them) - Magic in Mind 8th July 2024

An elf once told me that tales of changelings arose because human children are fascinating to elves in a way that their own infants are not.

Elf babies don't know they are hungry
Elf babies don't know they are cold
Elf babies don't instinctively initiate connection
Elf babies don't put literally everything in their mouths to test it out
Elf babies don't laugh to communicate delight
Elf babies don't see your soul with their big, wise eyes

Elf children have to learn all these things - which makes them dull (or so the elf on this particular shamanic journey told me).

The first part of the magical self to emerge is the Seer and their first job is survival: get fed, stay warm, bond. Human babies are exquisitely attuned to what they need; to them there is only one centre of the universe - them. They are leaders, teaching their new community how to care for them.

In a magically attuned world the next parts of the magical self would emerge over time and naturally balance the 'self' centredness of the Seer. In the modern world that is absolutely not what is happening - and it is costing all of us, but especially naturally gifted Seers.
