Stop Thinking North Eastern People Are Chinese — We Are Proud Indian.

Anjel Chakma was only 24 years old.
He was an MBA student from Tripura, full of dreams and hope.
He was also the son of a BSF constable — a man who guards India’s borders so that we can live safely.

On a normal day in Dehradun, Anjel went out to buy vegetables with his brother. That simple moment turned into a nightmare. A group of people abused him with racial slurs. They mocked the way he looked. They questioned his identity. When Anjel stood up for himself and his brother, he was brutally attacked.

Anjel did not run. He did not stay silent.
He stood his ground — as an Indian.

He was stabbed and left fighting for his life. For 17 long days, Anjel battled in the ICU. His family prayed. His brother waited. But on December 26, Anjel lost his life. Racism killed him.

Five accused have been arrested. One is still absconding and is reportedly hiding in Nepal. Arrests alone are not enough. Justice delayed is justice denied.

This is not just about Anjel.
This is about every person from the North East who is asked,
“Are you Chinese?”
“Where are you really from?”

Let this be clear:
People from the North East are Indians.
We are not Chinese.
We do not need certificates to prove our nationality.

Anjel’s blood is Indian blood.
His pain is India’s pain.

Racism has no place in our country.
Hatred has no excuse.

Justice for Anjel Chakma.
End racial discrimination.
India must do better.
