Open Ground / Hot Neutral Reverse

Описание к видео Open Ground / Hot Neutral Reverse

I always recommend that you hire a qualified licensed electrician to perform any electrical work in your home. I share this video simply to give a very basic idea of what it means when an outlet is not grounded or has a reverse polarity situation. An "Open Neutral" observation is very similar situation to the open or "ungrounded" situation. These situations may seem like a very simple fix, but as I briefly show...there are many combinations of ways that your wiring might run into and out of a receptacle. Additionally, the missing or wrong connection could be anywhere in the "branch" of the wiring. As an example, a ground wire may not be properly attached to an outlet and that would mean that all of the outlets following that branch will be ungrounded if they are on the same breaker or circuit. There could also be a possibility that the branch wiring in your home does not include a grounding wire and there may be a need to run updated branch wiring in the home. An electrician can generally (but not always) fix many of these situations quickly and easily. If there is a need to run new branch wiring, this situation is typically much more invasive and costly. I recommend that you don't "try this at home" for any repairs with the electrical components in your home.
