My mower is a Task Force that tripped the circuit breaker when you tried to start it. One or more of the diodes inside the rectifier fail and cause the short circuit. Installing a new bridge rectifier and adding thermal paste fixed it!

If your mower is sparking or doesn't start, and yet doesn't trip the breaker, it may be that you need to replace the brushes. I'll have to make a video about that. In the mean time, here is a link to the kind of part you need to buy. Make sure you measure your old brush dimensions (including the length of the spring) and find the right one that matches. This one here may not match your mower, but it is an example of what you should be looking for:
