Gold history, Grub Gulch, an area along the Fresno River.

Описание к видео Gold history, Grub Gulch, an area along the Fresno River.

Some call this bend in the Fresno River Grub Gulch, the site of the town further up the road of the same name is lost to time, its history erased from the land.
"Several hundred people lived in Grub Gulch from the mid-1880s to the late 1890s. In 1900, Grub Gulch had a general store, two hotels and five saloons. President Theodore Roosevelt visited Grub Gulch in 1903 and said, "this is a bully town".
The black rock bedrock here is smooth as glass from millennia of river flow carrying rock, sands, and GOLD polishing the surface. I have panned, sluiced and dredged recovering gold here. Hidden in the hills here are abandoned mines, and bygone dreams of striking it rich.
