Recently Blackmagic Design announced two new Video Assist models, making their popular on camera monitor / recorder lineup more streamlined. The two new models are the Video Assist 3G 5-inch and 7-inch that now sit alongside their 12G Video Assists counterparts.

The reason behind the launch of the Video Assist 3G range was to provide customers with a monitor-recorder at a much lower cost. At first glance the 12G and 3G models look the same and they have more in common features than you would expect.
