James Kennerley plays Sousa's The Stars and Stripes Forever

Описание к видео James Kennerley plays Sousa's The Stars and Stripes Forever

James Kennerley performs his own dazzling transcription of John Philip Sousa's iconic march, The Stars and Stripes Forever. Known as the "March King", he was enlisted by his father to join the US Marine Corps to keep him from joining the circus band! Performed live in July 2021 on the Kotzschmar Memorial Organ (Austin Organ Company Op 323, 1912) at Merrill Auditorium in the City Hall, Portland, Maine (James is the Municipal Organist).

The transcription calls for just about every stop of the Mighty Kotzschmar, including the percussion. It also calls for every finger and toe of the performer. At the end, the feet play two separate melodies. The right hand plays the piccolo part while the left thumb plays the melody and the remainder of the digits play the accompaniment!
