Описание к видео Episode 162:Norse Myths, Legends, and Folktales — Big Bird Dam

Welcome to Episode 162 of Norse, Myths, Legends, and Folktales. My name is MyLinda Butterworth and today we hear a tale about the plight of twelve princes and twelve princess and the adventure of the youngest prince who battled a twelve-headed troll in “Big Bird Dam”

There was a king with twelve daughters he was very fond of. Every day, he would take a nap after the midday meal, and the princess would go for a walk, but one day, they did not return, bringing him great sorrow. Bells were rung, and word was sent abroad to help find his daughters. One day, the word came to a king many lands over who had twelve sons, and they were desirous to go and search for these twelve princesses. Eventually, the king agreed to let them go and gave them a great ship with the best captain, Ritter Red, to ensure they all arrived home safely. Nearly seven years later, after they had set sail, a great storm came upon them, and it lasted three days and it was all they could do to save the ship and themselves, and when the storm stopped, eleven of the sons fell to the deck and fell asleep. The youngest was so restless he could not sleep and began pacing the deck until he saw a small do on the shore of an island barking and baying as if he wanted on board. Finally, the youngest went on shore to get the little dog, thinking it had been abandoned on the island, only for it to lead him to a troll guarding a castle. What, then, will happen to the youngest prince? Listen in to hear the whole story.
