71000's supporting charity, the BR Class 8 Steam Locomotive Trust is raising funds through membership subscriptions, donations, legacies and shop sales to complete the locomotive's second Heavy General Overhaul in order to return to mainline running.

71000 is the pinnacle of express passenger locomotive development in the UK and this video tells the story of its return from near-extinction in a scrapyard to being the pride of the mainline fleet.
