In this video I show you the easy way to build a bench seat and install a curb, all out of foam board.Building a bench seat in a tile shower can be very time consuming and difficult using standard traditional materials, and the end result has to be completely waterproof to insure no water damage will occur. Using a 2x4 studs to build the seat will also introduce the normal expansion and contraction problems that comes with those materials. You will also need power tools and all kinds of other tools to make it happen doing it the old way. I am an advocate of using modern materials for the construction of tile shower areas, these materials are designed to be waterproof and to be very stable and what makes them even better is that they are easy to use, easy to cut, easy to put together and very light and strong. In this video I demonstrate how to install a shower bench seat using 2" and 1/2" kerdi board. There process is the same with other manufacturers of these foam boards, Laticrete Hydro Ban Board, USG foam panels, and Wedi will all have a very similar process.
