A Day in the Life of an Early Childhood Teacher - Melinda Ferris

Melinda Ferris will discuss her schooling and professional 'history,' explaining the pathways in which she travelled as a student and teacher. She will also discuss her current workplace, the Mia Mia Child and Family Study Centre, which is located on campus at Macquarie University. Using her current workplace as an example, she will highlight the joys and daily doings of young children, as they live and learn together.

Melinda Ferris has worked on early childhood programmes for eleven years. Over the last eight years, she has been at Mia Mia Child and Family Study Centre where she has worked with children aged 2-5 years old. Melinda is currently the teacher in the 2's and 3's room. She has a significant interest and role in advocacy for early childhood education, in particular reinforcing toddlers as competent and capable individuals.
