I happened to be over the south shore of Long Island, (doing Chandelles and Lazy 8's), when I spotted a stream of smoke coming from one of the nearby houses. It turned out to be a house-fire that was 'just starting'. I immediately grabbed my digital camera, set it to 'video', and flew over to the area to watch, in horror, as the flames literally consumed the building. You can see the fire engine(s) 'just arriving' from the north facing road. The firemen did their best but the strong surface winds were 'fanning the flames'. (There's also some footage I took (see other video) of the building AFTER they had doused the flames.) This all happened in March 2012.
