Born on December 16, 1937, in Haryana, Hawa Singh's journey to greatness began when he joined the Indian Army in 1956 and discovered his passion for boxing. Through sheer hard work and dedication, he quickly rose through the ranks, winning the Western Command Championship in 1960.

What happened next was nothing short of legendary. From 1961 to 1972, Hawa Singh created an unprecedented record by becoming the National Boxing Champion for 11 consecutive years! His reign was absolute. He brought glory to India on the international stage by winning Gold Medals in the Heavyweight category at the 1966 and 1970 Asian Games in Bangkok, giving India its first proud moments in heavyweight boxing.

After ruling the boxing world unchallenged, Hawa Singh retired from the sport in 1980 and settled in Bhiwani, where he was appointed the Chief Coach of the Boxing Wing, nurturing the next generation of champions.

For his extraordinary contributions to Indian sports, he was honored with the Arjuna Award in 1966 and was awarded the Best Sportsman Trophy by the Chief of Army Staff in 1968.
