As we all know, rates are going up right now. This is undoubtably going to cause a slowdown in the market over the next few weeks. When this happens, and sellers are having a harder time selling their house, it actually benefits buyers. They are able to negotiate for sellers to pay for more of their closing costs and potentially, the rate buy down. With less and less inventory available, the majority of new transactions next year will be new construction. Nobody wants to give up their below 3% interest rate. As we start to go into fall and winter, buyers will have an opportunity to take advantage of the slowdown. If you are in a position to be able to buy right now, I highly suggest it. Once the rates start to fall, values will start to creep up again as a result of the limited inventory.
