The Guild Discovery Day 2025 event was held at ZSL London Zoo with the main theme being the reimagining of horticulture for the 21st Century, set against the background of the issues facing us today - climate change, biodiversity loss and technological advances for example.

The day began with a keynote speech with regard to rewilding in urban areas and nature-based solutions. Following this the importance of horticulture to zoos and their conservation aims will be explored. Then a look community gardening and innovative ways of delivering this activity.

The latter part of the morning included breakout sessions designed to explore the challenges facing horticulture and the natural environment whilst considering possible solutions with experts in the field leading the discussion. At the end of the day feedback from the sessions was presented.

A networking lunch was provided with time to view various displays, giving the opportunity to learn more about careers in horticulture and organisations supporting the day.

In the afternoon guided tours explored zoo horticulture and parts of The Regent's Park. This event is one of the series of amazing Guild Discovery Days - 2025 was a joint initiative between the Royal Parks Guild, The Royal Parks, ZSL London Zoo and The Tree Council.
