Sheetal P Singh raises disturbing questions around the so-called “Operation Langda”, where thousands of people have allegedly been shot in the legs without trial, and many others killed in what are described as fake encounters. What was once treated as a serious human rights violation is now being celebrated, rewarded, and promoted as a model of governance.

The conversation explains how:

Fake encounters are normalized and glorified

Police officers involved receive promotions and praise

Fear replaces law, and “encounter justice” replaces due process

Whistleblower officers like Amitabh Thakur, Sanjiv Bhatt, and Kuldeep Sharma are jailed using decades-old cases

Courts increasingly appear complicit, failing to act as safeguards of constitutional rights

The clip also draws parallels with other BJP-ruled states, arguing that the “UP model” of governance—based on intimidation, illegal policing, and selective justice—is spreading across India.

Most alarmingly, the discussion calls this phase an “undeclared emergency”, where:

Dissent is criminalized

Bureaucrats are punished for integrity

Even the Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, faced rapid conviction and disqualification

Civil liberties are steadily eroded without any formal declaration of Emergency

Singh, we ask एक सख़्त सवाल: क्या भारत आज एक अघोषित इमरजेंसी में जी रहा है? बिना Article 352 लगाए, भीड़-हिंसा, लिंचिंग, बुलडोज़र जस्टिस और यूपी के “ऑपरेशन लंगड़ा” जैसे फेक एनकाउंटर्स के ज़रिए क्या नागरिकों के अधिकार चुपचाप छीने जा रहे हैं – ख़ासकर मुसलमानों, दलितों, आदिवासियों और dissent करने वालों के?

Sheetal सर IPS अमिताभ ठाकुर, संजीव भट्ट, कुलदीप शर्मा और Father Stan Swamy जैसे केसों से दिखाते हैं कि जब ईमानदार अफ़सर और 84 साल के बीमार पादरी तक सुरक्षित नहीं, तो आम नागरिक की क्या औकात बचती है। इसी के साथ वो बताते हैं कैसे TV मीडिया और पार्टी IT-सेल ने नाज़ी जर्मनी से प्रेरित hate-propaganda बनाकर मुसलमानों को pig, rat, mosquito जैसी imagery से dehumanise किया है, majority को 24×7 Hindu–Muslim शोर में फँसा कर “95% को गोबर गणेश” बना दिया है, ताकि असली मुद्दे – बेरोज़गारी, hunger, health, education और inequality – गायब रहें।

इस पॉडकास्ट में शीतल सर साफ़-साफ़ बताते हैं कि कैसे कानूनों को हथियार बना कर नागरिकों और विपक्ष को दबाया जा रहा है। 2005 का RTI कानून, फिर PM CARES फंड और अब DPDP Bill के ज़रिए सूचना पाने का अधिकार लगभग पूरी तरह कमजोर कर दिया गया है। UAPA के तहत Umar Khalid जैसे student-activist बिना किसी प्रत्यक्ष हिंसा या ठोस सबूत के सालों से जेल में बंद हैं, जबकि PMLA के तहत हज़ारों केस दर्ज हैं, conviction रेट नगण्य है, पर इस्तेमाल सबसे ज़्यादा विपक्षी CMs और नेताओं पर ED/CBI की चढ़ाई के लिए हो रहा है। जो नेता सत्ता में आ मिल जाते हैं या अपनी कंपनियाँ कॉरपोरेट दोस्तों को सौंप देते हैं, उनके केस गायब हो जाते हैं। वहीं दूसरी ओर, जो NGOs tribal इलाकों, education या legal aid में असल काम कर रहे थे, उन्हें FCRA और PMLA के ज़रिए लगभग सूखा दिया गया है, जबकि सत्ता-समर्थित NGOs बेधड़क फल-फूल रहे हैं और फंड, प्रोजेक्ट और वैधता सब उन्हीं की झोली में जा रहा है।

World Inequality Report के डेटा के सहारे Sheetal सर बताते हैं कि भारत में wealth gap अब लगभग 1922 के colonial loot के स्तर पर पहुँच चुका है – बस इस बार लुटेरे “देसी भूरे लुटेरे” हैं। अंत में वो युवाओं से अपील करते हैं: सच्ची जानकारी ढूँढो, caste–religion–region वाली हर divisive politics को ठुकराओ, और सिर्फ एकता + गांधीवादी प्रतिरोध से इस undeclared emergency का सामना करो – वरना जो आज़ादी हमारे पूर्वजों ने जीती थी, हम चुपचाप गंवा देंगे।
