This Peavey VTM 60 was one half of my “Tale of Two Peaveys” video. The 5150 has been rebuilt, and now it's time to give the VTM some attention. In this video, I start off by rebuilding the power PCB and cover the following topics:

Replacing all filter capacitors
Comparing choke vs. high wattage resistor in the filtering circuit
Inspecting and testing power resistors (all tested good and left in place)
Discussing component choices and techniques for reliable rebuilds

This is Part 1 of the VTM 60 project. In Part 2, I’ll replace all other electrolytic capacitors in the amp (main PCB and Preamp PCB), I will replace any resistors that have seen high heat (screen resistors, etc.) and will figure out what the heck to do about the Power Tube circuit board that is a real pain to remove and service.
