The video shows lake-floor hydrothermal vents in Lake Rotomahana, New Zealand. These vents are basin-shaped and on sonar, could be confused with the basins from the Pink or White Terraces. However, the video shows gas escaping from the vents. The Terrace basins did not have vents in their bases and did not emit gas.
The basin-vents in the video and in the parent YouTube video "Quest for the Pink and White Terraces", lie in exposed rocky sections of lake floor which return strong sonar signals. This is no surprise given new Lake Rotomahana was blasted out of the country bedrock by a series of hydrothermal eruptions in 1886.
Also, wave terraces can be seen carved into the lake floor, by wave action over years as the new lake slowly filled. Again, these are not evidence of Pink and White Terrace basins.
This video demonstrates how sonar imagery recorded at the lake surface can be misinterpreted: and how this can be avoided by scuba diving to inspect the lake floor from close up. This however is unhealthy, given the contaminated lake waters.
