On 17 February, the discussions on the final day of the Munich Security Conference 2019 revolved around issues of conflict and security in the Middle East.

The day opened with a scene-setting panel with several heads of international organizations who highlighted the severe humanitarian consequences of conflict in the Middle East. Subsequent speakers included the foreign ministers of Qatar and Iran, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani and Mohammad Javad Zarif.

The second half of the day's programme featured panel discussions on nuclear security, climate change, and security issues in the Balkans and Eastern Europe. A highlight of the evening was the ceremony for the Ewald von Kleist Award, named after the MSC's founder, which honoured Alexis Tsipras and Zoran Zaev, the Prime Ministers of Greece and North Macedonia.
