Go to my website to download for free the transcription in PDF format and Guitar Pro of the Blues I wrote for the demo of the Yamaha CSF-TA Transacoustic Guitar. This is a parlor-type instrument: it is a small body acoustic guitar with very balanced sound centered in the mid frequencies. It's perfect for fingerstyle playing, among other styles.

This acoustic blues has classic elements of the style, and I also added some more modern resources and licks closer to country and gospel.

Technical / theoretical aspects:

-You can play it without using a thumb pick; you will get a sound with less treble and sweeter in the bass  notes.

-You will find two turnarounds harmonized with gospel chords.

-In the solo part there is a sextuplet lick with open strings: this is a very typical country resource.

-There is a section in which the right hand's thumb keeps on playing quarter notes for the bass part, while the left hand plays the solo. This will force you to work on your coordination skills between your right and left hands.

-In one part you will have to use your left hand's thumb to play the bass, so if you have never practiced this, now's the time!

-Near the end there is an Am(maj7) (harmonically, a IVm (maj7)). It is a resource not usually found in the Blues and that gives it a Fusion / Gospel flavor. The lick I have used to play over this chord is based on the melodic minor scale.

-Finally, you will hear an Eadd9 (the famous opening chord in “Every Breath You Take”).

-Regarding the recording, I wanted to capture the sound of the guitar in the most natural way possible. I used microphones and a suitable technique for this. As you can see in the video, I used a ribbon microphone: an AEA N22. The reverb you hear comes from a room mic, also an N22 with a mid-side configuration.
