清水寺　青龍会｜Kiyomizu-dera Seiryu-e

■青龍会（せいりゅうえ）
青龍会は、荘厳な衣装に身を包んだ一行が境内をぐるりと練り歩く大群会行です。ホラ貝の音を皮切りに、観音さまの化身である青龍とそれを守る四天王、そしてその後ろには十六善神と呼ばれる神々が続きます。平成12年のご本尊御開帳を記念して始まったこの会は、回を重ねるごとに人気を集め、訪れた参拝者の幸福を願い続けています。

Seiryu-e is a spectacular Buddhist event in which a wide variety of participants clad in gorgeous costumes parade around the grounds.
At the sound of a trumpet shell, the blue dragon (Seiryu in Japanese), an incarnation of Kannon, together with the Four Devas, begin parading through the compound, followed by the sixteen good deities. This Buddhist event, wishing for the happiness of all visitors, first took place in 2000 to commemorate the exposition of the principal image. Year by year this ceremonial parade is gaining in popularity.
