May is National Celiac Awareness Month andDr. Anthony Porto, Director of Pediatric Gastroenerology at Greenwich Hospital sat down with It's Relevant to discuss the symptoms and testing options for the illness
Dr. Porto says that for kids and young adults checking your family history is important.

For those unsure if they may have the illness, Dr. Porto recommends testing for it, rather than going undiagnosed.
Dr. Porto also says for children diagnosed with the illness, going on a gluten free diet can be difficult.

There are certain test that can be done to determine whether you or your child has celiacs.

Dr. Porto says that although symptoms of the disease can come in many forms more information and proper testing is coming out to determine treatments and raise awarness.

Greenwich Hospital plans on hosting a support group for families in the community affected by Celiac Disease.
