Welcome to our channel, this channel is an attempt to show our life in the Australian bush and a continuation of our blog. We moved to Australia (Sydney) in 1997 to work there for 2 years. Since we are still here, it can be assumed that Australia has become our new “home”. At the time, I (Ton) worked for an American software company (Astea) in Driebergen (Holland), which needed people in the Asia Pacific region, with their headquarters in Sydney. Jeanette worked at the AZU (Utrecht, now UMC) in the pharmacy department. After a week we decided to make the move, Jeanette would quit her job at AZU, and I would be offered a job in Sydney. We had put our house in Culemborg up for sale, and we left the Netherlands on January 4, 1997 during the last ride of the last Elfstedentocht.

I (Ton) have since adopted the Australian nationality and lost my Dutch nationality as a result, Jeanette still has got her Dutch Nationality. Anyway, after living in Sydney for 12 years, it started to itch again, and we wanted to have some more land/freedom and animals. This is not really affordable in Sydney, so we found a nice piece of land (24 hectares) with a cozy cottage on it, in the far north of NSW, 15 minutes from the nearest beach. So once again we put our house in Sydney up for sale. Jeanette, who had a job at a large bank in Australia, had requested a transfer, and I (Ton) did quit my job. And there we went again in 2009, again a new adventure, new social contacts, and learning a lot about how to live in the Australian bush. Even if I say so myself, we have succeeded reasonably well, and because life in the Australian bush is so different from living in the big city, this channel.
