Swing from Berlin (50) Wind weht weit übers Meer! (1941)

For the 50th video in this series I have chosen another great recording by one of my favourites : Michael and his orchestra. "Wind weht weit übers Meer" was recorded in 1941. The vocals ware provided by Rudi Schuricke....

Schuricke was certainly one of the most popular and busiest singers in the 1930s and 1940s.... I have to admit that at first I wasn't a fan of his... My grandmother used to havan an LP of Schuricke... Let's say the songs featured were all from the mid to late 1950s and certainly weren't his best.... So the impression I had of Schuricke was one of a middle aged man singing mediocre songs with a high pitched voice... Many years later - thanks to the many 78rpms he recorded in the 30s and 40s - I rediscovered Rudi Schuricke and came to like him more and more....
These days I never pass on the opportunity of buying a good Schuricke recording when I see one...
