This National Microtia and Atresia Awareness Day marks a decade of promoting education and awareness for our rare cause of Microtia and Aural Atresia! Looking back, I just can't believe we didn't have an awareness day for our community! It seems crazy to me that we didn't have this and now we do! So many of us who had never heard of microtia and atresia until our children were born. So many of us feeling lost and alone and not understanding why this happened. So many of us looking for the answers to our questions. Thank goodness for National Microtia and Atresia Awareness Day to help shine a light on our rare cause and help the public understand more.❤️

Ten years already of embracing a special day for our community! Ten years of creating a day of belongingness and acceptance for our children and adults to have in our community, a day for medical professionals to educate and share about options and helpful resources for our rare cause on social media and in clinics and a day for our community to educate in school classrooms and through events where we can come together. Most importantly, National Microtia and Atresia Awareness is a day that allows us to shine a light on our rare cause and a day to show anyone who has microtia and atresia that you are never alone because you have an entire community who is here for you! ❤️👂

Each and every individual who was born with microtia and aural atresia is beautiful and perfect in every way! So many in our community are creative and inspiring in all that they do and become! No one ever has to let little or missing ears or hearing loss define you. Remember that you are beautiful! Be YOU!
