Описание к видео Soo Line Bandits

Soo Line GP9 on turn tabel heading for routine maintenace in the machine shop. In the background a train of slurry tank cars goes by with three SD40-2s 6382, 6341, and 789.

The GP9 2551 is a stock GP9 Proto 2000 with QSI sound. It was custom detailed and weathered by Mark's Rail Services.

The first two SD40-2s started life as Athearn RTR Milwaukee Road 176 and 167. I took those road numbers and did some research and found that when Soo Line took the Milwaukee Road over in 1986 they renumbered them 6382 and 6341. Mark's Rail Services did the custom paint jobs, details and used Highball Graphics Soo Line Bandit decals. At the time I had no intention at putting sound in them for the simpel fact that I was not into DCC yet. When I finally went into DCC I boxed them up and put them on a shelf and kind of forgot about them.

It wasn't until just recently that I found them. So I took them up to Tom at Southside Trains and had them put Tsunami decoders in them. I didn't take them up to Mark's Rail Service's for the simpel fact that I wanted to kind of spread the wealth. Both places do very good jobs and charge the same price. I buy about 98% of all my train equipment from Tom. He has very good prices and he's very easy to talk to.

Soo Line SD40-2 #789 was a Blue Box powered unit. I took out the crappy motor and drive shafts to make it into a dummy unit and had Mark's Rail Services detail and weather the unit.

One thing for me that makes Mark's Rail Services very nice is that he also models the Soo Line so I have someone to go to with all my Soo questions.

Thank you for watching my video.
