Town of Bicheno
Along the streets of Bicheno there is a lovely selection of cafes, bakeries, restaurants and interesting shops to browse in.

Lobster Shack
The Lobster Shack is a unique Tasmanian seafood experience, where you can enjoy their famous Lobster burger overlooking the ‘Gulch’. You can also dine in or grab a takeaway from their selection of fresh lobsters, oysters, prawns, mussels, octopus, and salmon.

Foreshore Walk
Along the foreshore walk, you can enjoy stunning views of the coast with its iconic orange lichen-covered granite rocks and bright blue water. If you walk quietly, you may also see echidnas or other wildlife along the way.

Bicheno Blowhole
Near the Esplanade Reserve is the Bicheno Blowhole, an interesting natural feature where water erupts out of a hole in the top of a sea cave. It is particularly impressive at high tide or when there is a decent swell.

Whalers Lookout
The 1.7-kilometre return walk to the Whalers Lookout starts in the centre of town. At the top of the steep track, you will be rewarded with panoramic views of the town and its sparkling crescent-shaped harbour from the enclosed lookout.

Bicheno History Trail
There is also a History Trail, where you can wander around town, see the buildings and read the interpretive signs to learn about Bicheno’s origins and early days.

Penguin Spotting in Bicheno
You can try to spot a penguin at dusk at Redbill Beach or Waubs Beach or book in for a Bicheno Penguin tour. The best time to see the little penguins is from September through until January, when they are breeding, or from June to August, when they are building their nests.

Freycinet National Park
A short drive from Bicheno is Freycinet National Park, where you will find the iconic Wineglass Bay with its beautiful white sandy beach and stunning blue water.

You can also wander to the Cape Tourville Lighthouse and visit Honeymoon Bay, Sleepy Bay and Friendly Beaches.

Apsley River Waterhole and Gorge
The Apsley River Waterhole and Gorge are located in Douglas-Apsley National Park, an incredibly diverse Park with river gorges, swimming holes, waterfalls, and a beautiful eucalypt forest nestled beneath a dolerite-capped plateau.
