The stone manger, the cross, and the empty stone tomb only make sense together.

The manger tells us that God truly entered our world. The Son of God was laid in stone because there was no room for Him. But without the cross, the manger is only a story of humility. And without the empty tomb, it is only a beginning with no resolution.

The cross stands between them because it must. The child born in the manger came for this purpose. The wood of the cross interprets the stone of the manger. His coming was not merely to dwell among us, but to bear our sin, suffer our judgment, and lay down His life. Without the manger, the cross would have no incarnation. Without the tomb, the cross would have no victory.

The empty tomb completes what the manger began and the cross accomplished. The stone that once sealed death was rolled away to reveal that death had been defeated. Without the manger, the tomb has no meaning. Without the cross, it has no power.

Christmas is not complete without the cross. And the cross is not the end without the empty tomb. From stone manger to wooden cross to empty stone tomb, the gospel proclaims one truth: Jesus Christ came, He died, and He rose. And He reigns.
