TPP - how many lumens?

THOUGHT PROVOKING PIECE - ‘’How much lumens should my flashlight have? ‘’– is the equivalent of the question of ‘’how much friends I should bring to a fight?’’ all of them, lol.

But seriously, while there are other considerations such as the rate of the candela, design, and training itself – lumens are something to take into consideration. The approach here is simple. Humans are diurnal creatures. In other words, we perform better when more light is available, and we are losing that quality of performance as the level of light is reduced. While many cognitive capabilities are diminished when light is reduced, primarily and most obviously – our vision is simply not best tailored for low light.

So, if you want to solve problems, you need to see problems, and you need to need to see how your solution to the problem worked out. So if we need to see, we need power. That power is your lumens. Now consider this.

Flashlights are for search, identification, control and communication. All four aspects of use are influenced by the environment's different levels of lights (from and to) and influenced by the observers/target current level o light adaptation.


As a patrol officer, it will be sucky if you're in an apartment, and you wanna control someone, but that 300 lumens flashlight does no difference compared to a standard 60-watt incandescent bulb, for example, which produces about 800 lumens of light.
