This is a test using the Purelogic PLCM-LPT motion controller with Mach3. I was using the printer port to drive the stepper controllers through Mach3 but liked the idea of using a dedicated USB motion controller to improve speed and reduce the processor load on the PC. This is the only test so far. The installation of the USB and Mach3 drivers took longer than I expected because the setup software required that I installed Microsoft .NET 2.0 and my CNC PC does not have an internet link. The .NET 2 link in the software setup didnt work either so I had to go manually to the Microsoft website and ended up installing .NET 3.5 . I imagine that many people who are interested in a USB Motion controller for Mach3 will be using older PCs in a garage without an internet connection so that might be something to think about. I think the packaging could be improved too with at least a printed quick start guide. All I got was the interface in a box.

Over all though, I am very impressed with the results of my first test and was quite suprised at how seamlessly it integrates with Mach3.
