LEADIN:
Chinese manufacturer Honor is taking on the Korean electronics giant Samsung with the unveiling of its first foldable screen in a phone.

The company says the flagship smartphone, the Magic5 Pro has been dramatically upgraded and will be launched globally.

STORYLINE:

This according to Honor is an all new experience for any smartphone user.

It claims this phone is the product of breakthroughs in design, photography and display.

All the new series 5s will have featured curved designs and the triple “star wheel” camera design on the back.

But this was the big moment which Honor kept until last, its first folding screen phone revealed by the company’s CEO George Zhao.

The company wasn’t bashful about taking on rivals Samsung either, with a series of graphics comparing the Z Fold 4 with the Honor Magic5 Pro folding smartphone.

The company is also keen to highlight the new camera which it says is the best on the market.

According to Honor the new flagship phone is smart in many ways.

The camera has AI motion sensing capture which is capable of capturing every frame of a video in ultra high definition.

According to Zhao the curves on the phone were inspired by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi.

That plays well here in Barcelona, Gaudi’s home and the city which has the greatest concentration of his works.

Each year his buildings draw millions of millions of visitors from around the world each year.

Honor’s designers have also been busy. Zhao says the design of the camera on the back of the phone was inspired by the first image of the black hole in space.

He says: “The black hole at the centre of the galaxy is first imaged by human, showing deep, mysterious, and fascinating. This interests our designers.”
