Описание к видео THE GREAT SUGAR SCAM OF INDIA II SCAM OF 1990'S II WHO IS RESPONSIBLE?

Hello everyone welcome to my youtube channel Clear Mind Rajiv today video is about the Sugar scam of 1990's .
Which take place because of incompetence and being non cooperative among ministers and bureaucrats due to which goverment lost 650cr rupees.
The first whiffs of a possible scandal hit the markets in march that year The Government's decision in early March to put sugar on the Open General Licence (ogl) for duty free imports stumped many, for it came unexpectedly. It was also the first acknowledgement of the need to import. And a contradiction, for until January the official line was that sugar production would be adequate to meet the demand. With the decision came a steady rise in sugar prices.
Diversion of sugarcane to gur and khandsari units. Ministerial and bureaucratic bunglings in importing sugar. Reduction in free market release of sugar. Experts reason that the crisis was evident back in 1991-92. That was the year when India produced surplus sugar. Against a demand of 115 lakh tonnes, the production was 134 lakh tonnes. With limited stock holding capacity, the sugar was dumped in the market, bringing down the prices sharply. When India took to exports, prices fell there as well. The Indian industry faced a cash crunch, couldn't pay off the farmers and arrears piled up to Rs 700 crore. A policy on how to handle surpluses may" have prevented this problem. But it had a larger consequence. Next year, many farmers moved to other crops.
