Percussion Therapy, what is it...
Percussion therapy is a revolutionary intervention that provides a holistic and therapeutic approach for individuals to participate in a creative, verbal and nonverbal expression, through the use of hand drumming and hand held instruments. It can be facilitated in an individual or group setting.
Richard Noel, was born and raised in the twin islands of Trinidad and Tobago. As a child, it was there that he was first introduced to drumming and global rhythms. Drumming with his family and community was simply a part of daily life on the islands. As a young adult pursuing a career in aerospace engineering, Richard and his family relocated to the United States in 1998.
Currently as a REMO endorsed facilitator, Richard has also taken his expression to the corporate world as a motivational and inspirational tool. The audience is liberated through fun filled rhythmic techniques to enhance personal and professional development and strategic coaching intervention. He has also facilitated corporate professional development seminars with "Toastmasters International", "San Diego Miramar College", "Los Angeles Southwest College", "Xango USA" and "Freedom Smoke USA". He is also an active member of "SunRisers Toastmasters" and the "Festivals Event Association of Southern Arizona".
Sherrie Cox was born and raised in North Carolina and currently resides in Tucson, Arizona. Her education from Wake Technical Community College and North Carolina State University are in the areas of Mass Communication, with a primary focus in Interpersonal Communication, Arts and Science. Sherrie has had the opportunity to utilize all of her extensive skills in management, marketing, computer technology, sales, health care and education.
Currently, Sherrie serves as a Visionary Speaker, Director and Facilitator of "Jam2Grow". She has also co-facilitated corporate professional development seminars with "Toastmasters International", "Los Angeles Southwest College”, "San Diego Miramar College", "Freedom Smoke, USA.“ and "Xango USA", Sherrie is a music therapy percussionist facilitator with "The Fountains Assisted Living Center" by the "Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance". In addition, she has worked with the "Refugee Focus Tucson", "International Refugee Committee", and "Armory Park Senior Center". Her corporate affiliations are as an active member of “SunRisers Toastmasters" in Tucson, Arizona.
Percussion therapy combines the principles of physical and cognitive ability along with the art of using hand drumming and hand instruments. Percussion instruments allow facilitators to work within the highest realm of percussion education. The main objective of percussion therapy is to assist individuals to manage the symptoms of many disabilities. It is a program compiled of both cognitive restructuring and social skill interventions that is a valuable diagnostic tool in expanding physical, emotional, social and cognitive development.
