In early 2020, two friends and musical collaborators (Danny Widdicombe and Ant Aggs), found themselves in a room with acting royalty Tom Hanks. They'd both been chosen to be in Baz Lurhmann's Elvis biopic - as part of The King's Las Vegas band - TCB (Taking Care of Business).

Tom Hanks was cast as Elvis' manager Col Tom Parker. In a scene where The Col bursts on stage berating a tired and frustrated Elvis, Hanks' vitriol was literally spraying out of mouth - spit flying everywhere. It was a captivating performance, and Danny and Ant were right there on stage in front of him.
Fast forward a couple of days, and Tom Hanks announces that he has COVID - the virus that had ony been mentioned on page 20 of the news papers the previous year. It had been perceived as being endemic to China - and Australia had just a crisis of a different kind with bushfires - so that was the focus of the media's attention - until now.

It was time to bunker down - Danny has a weakened immune system from having leukaemia on 3 separate occasions and Ant's father wasn't well. They decided to collaborate from their isolated lock downs. They wanted to make music that helped calm the mind and create something beautiful from such an ugly situation.

This is how their album 'Face' was born. Ant would send Danny piano pieces. small segments - that Danny would thread together, and then play pedal steel over. The key was to make it as simple as possible, without making it formless. It worked.
