How To Change the Maximum Speed on Your E Bike - Jupiter Defiant Max Speed Unlock Instructions

In this short video I will demonstrate how to adjust the maximum speed on your electric bike. In particular we are using the Jupiter Defiant E Bike from Costco.

Although this only shows you exactly how to perform the unlock on a Jupiter E bike there are similar processes for all e bikes sold in the USA. By law the bicycle is set to a maximum speed of 21mph maximum. With that being said, please don’t try this at home or make any attempt to perform this unlock 🔓 on your electric bike.

I was able to get my bike from 21 mph all the way to 32.7 mph with a few adjustments. This is the typical top speed for a 48V 750W Electric Motor.

Here’s some specs based on motor size:

2000W - 40+ Mph max speed unlocked
1000W - 36+ Mph max speed unlocked
750W - 32+ Mph max speed unlocked
500W - 25+ Mph max speed unlocked
250W - 20 mph max speed unlock not needed
