Goodnight Punpun is such an emotionally heavy story that it always makes me question whether it could ever be adapted into an anime. Its atmosphere, themes, and visual style are so tied to the manga medium that translating all of that into animation might lose some of what makes it so powerful. Some moments feel almost too raw and personal for an adaptation to capture in the same way.
