On September 24th, AmCap Home Loans hosted a youth golf clinic for the non-profit First Tee of Greater Houston. This organization helps to empower teens and kids through the game of golf; helping make it affordable and accessible to all. Over 100 kids came out to the clinic to practice their putts, hit a few balls, and hear from Pro Golfer Roger Sloan followed by a meet and greet. Roger Sloan, a PGA tour player and Houston Resident, spoke to the kids about his journey as a golfer and the dedication, hard work and determination it took to get the opportunity to play at his level. Plus, he hit few really far shots for the kids which they "ohhhed and awweed" at. AmCap volunteers worked with the clinic participants on golf techniques but more importantly cheered them on and made the day fun and memorable. The kids all left with goody bags, ice cream and smiles on their faces and for us, that feels like a success!
