Zait and Zaatar is a halal Lebanese restaurant and bakery where the 5 Fwy and Brookhurst St Exit meet. The halal eatery is a hidden gem going 15 years strong and offers an expansive menu covering Lebanese cuisine favorites like manakish to baklava to shawarma and everything in between. Best of all, the halal eatery has the decor to match and will make you feel like you’re back home.

During my visit, I ordered a Chicken Shawarma Plate that comes with sliced pieces of rotisserie grilled marinated chicken shawarma, rice, salad, hummus, garlic and hot sauces, and warm pita bread. I also ordered a bottled juice drink. The meal was absolutely delicious. I just wish I had room for the many baked goods. Next time, InshaAllah. In all, my meal cost about $23 and I had leftovers.

Zait and Zaatar’s staff provided a verbal statement they only use halal meat on their menu. Additionally, the halal eatery does not sell alcohol.
