Meet Marissa Romero. She’s a kickass girl from Oxnard California with a very inspiring story that’s only now beginning. Although she’s been visiting Colombia on and off for the past 2 years, she decided to come back to Medellin this year to learn Spanish. As luck would have it, she got here right before what many called the longest pandemic lockdown in the world.

Marissa graduated from college in 2011, became a civil engineer for 7 years, and just 4 months after getting her masters in Construction Engineering in 2017, decided to leave her career and comfortable 9 to 5 job behind. She tells us about how a family trip to Europe inspired this sudden and very dramatic life change.

Shortly after quitting, she started an e-commerce (drop-shipping) store that sold baby products and another that did printing on demand. Although these businesses were profitable, she quickly became burnt out and realized that e-commerce was not for her.

Fast forward two years to 2020 and she now has a YouTube channel with over 130,000 followers. She has managed to create a business that helps entrepreneurs and content creators to build, grow and scale their businesses on YouTube. On her fast growing channel, she posts videos about creating passive income, side hustles, and making money online.

In this episode we talk all about her journey to becoming a location independent entrepreneur, making money through YouTube, advice for newbies, dating in Colombia v.s in the US, cost of living, and a whole lot more.
